All you need to know about Power X: your skin’s bounce-back serum

Discover Power X, SkinGoal’s longevity recovery serum, featuring Centella asiatica-derived exosomes, vegan rice polynucleotides, peptides and glycerin. Find out how these skincare ingredients are designed to support skin recovery, hydration and a smoother, more resilient-looking complexion.

You will know by now that I’m a big fan of skincare products that have a specific job to do, alongside the everyday essentials that help keep our skin healthy and happy. As our skin changes with age, hormones and the general wear and tear of life, one thing I’m particularly interested in is how we can help it recover and maintain its resilience.

This is why I’m so excited about Power X, our longevity recovery serum. I like to think of it as your skin’s little bounce-back elixir in a bottle!

Power X has been developed around some fascinating ingredients from the world of skin science, including plant-derived exosomes from Centella asiatica, vegan rice polynucleotides and peptides. Alongside hydrating ingredients, they work together to support skin recovery and help it look smoother, fresher and more resilient.

But what exactly are these ingredients, and why have I chosen them for Power X?

What are exosomes, and why are they in Power X?

Exosomes are tiny particles that act a little like messengers between cells. In skincare research, they’re attracting a lot of interest because of their potential role in cell communication and the skin’s natural renewal processes.

Power X uses exosomes derived from Centella asiatica, also known as cica, gotu kola or tiger grass. In skincare, it’s best known for its soothing, skin-conditioning properties and its use in products designed for skin that feels sensitive, stressed or compromised. Researchers are also investigating its compounds and their potential role in skin repair, inflammation and the processes involved in maintaining collagen and elastin.

Why is this interesting? As skin ages, its natural processes can become less efficient. Supporting the way skin responds to everyday stress and maintains itself is an important part of a longevity-focused skincare approach.

Centella-derived exosomes are being studied for their potential to support processes associated with collagen, elastin and skin recovery. Collagen and elastin are important proteins that help give skin its structure, firmness and flexibility.

In simple terms, they’re part of the science behind helping skin look and feel more resilient, rather than simply treating the surface.

What are vegan rice polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are another ingredient attracting attention in advanced skincare. They are made from chains of nucleotides, the building blocks of DNA.

You may have heard of PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotides) and polynucleotides in connection with professional aesthetic treatments. Power X takes a different approach, using a vegan, plant-derived alternative to the salmon-sourced version used in many injectable treatments.

Why include them? They’re used in formulations designed to support the skin’s natural recovery and renewal processes. In Power X, they complement the Centella-derived exosomes, bringing together two ingredient technologies that approach skin resilience in different ways.

What do peptides do for the skin?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. In skincare, particular peptides are used to help improve the appearance of skin, including its smoothness and firmness.

Power X contains acetyl hexapeptide-8, a peptide used in skincare formulations targeting the appearance of expression lines.

You may have come across it in discussions about wrinkle-smoothing skincare. Its role here is to support a smoother-looking complexion as part of a wider skincare routine.

Why does Power X contain hydrating ingredients?

There’s little point focusing on skin resilience and smoothness without looking after hydration, too.

When skin is dehydrated, fine lines can appear more noticeable, and the complexion can look dull or tired. Hydrating ingredients help attract and retain moisture, leaving the skin feeling more comfortable and helping it look plumper.

Power X contains 4% glycerin, a tried-and-tested moisture-binding ingredient that helps skin hold on to water. This helps keep the skin feeling comfortable and looking plumper and smoother, complementing the serum’s focus on recovery and resilience.

Why combine these ingredients in one serum?

The Centella-derived exosomes and vegan polynucleotides are included to support the skin’s recovery and renewal processes. Peptides help target the appearance of fine lines and support a smoother-looking complexion, while hydration actives help keep the skin plump and comfortable.

Together, they form our longevity recovery approach: supporting skin that looks firmer, fresher and more resilient as it changes over time.

Power X is also designed to sit alongside other skincare products and professional treatments, helping you make the most of your routine at home.

How to use Power X

Power X is easy to incorporate into your existing skincare routine.

After cleansing, apply one to two pumps to clean, dry skin on your face and neck, gently pressing it into the skin. Follow with your usual moisturiser.

You can use it in the morning or evening. If you’re new to advanced serums, I recommend starting in the evening to give your skin time to settle into your new routine. Apply Power X first as your serum, then seal with your moisturiser.

If you use Power R1%, alternate evenings and be sure to fully cleanse skin the following morning before applying your Serum X. Power R1% is a marvellous exfoliator, which will help present more accessible, healthy skin to your chosen serum.

Note: Power R1% is not suitable for people who experience skin irritation from retinoid-based products.

And as always, remember your morning SPF. Protecting your skin from UV exposure is an important part of looking after it for the long term.

Give your skin a little bounce-back

Our skin goes through a lot. Ageing, hormonal changes, environmental stress and professional treatments can all influence how it looks and feels. That’s why I believe a good skincare routine should do more than simply moisturise. It should also support the skin’s day-to-day health and resilience.

Power X brings together some exciting developments in skincare science to do just that. Think of it as a considered addition to your routine, designed to support recovery and help your skin look smoother, fresher and more resilient.

Power X: your questions answered

What is Power X?

Power X is a SkinGoal skincare serum formulated with powerful skincare-science-forward ingredients. Centella asiatica-derived exosomes are an exciting area of skincare science, while vegan polynucleotides are being explored for their potential to support the skin’s natural recovery processes. Peptides help target the appearance of fine lines, while hydrating ingredients such as glycerin keep skin feeling comfortable and looking plumper. Together, these ingredients are designed to support a smoother, fresher and more resilient-looking complexion as your skin changes over time.

What are the key ingredients in Power X?

Power X combines Centella asiatica-derived exosomes and vegan rice polynucleotides with acetyl hexapeptide-8, a peptide used in skincare targeting the appearance of expression lines. It also contains 4% glycerin to attract and retain moisture, helping skin feel comfortable and look plumper.

What are Centella asiatica exosomes?

Centella asiatica, also known as cica or gotu kola, is a plant widely used in skincare for its soothing and skin-conditioning properties. Exosomes are tiny particles involved in cell communication. Plant-derived exosomes are an emerging area of skincare research, although more evidence is needed to establish the benefits of specific topical formulations.

What are vegan polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are chains of nucleotides, the building blocks of DNA. They are attracting interest in skincare research for their potential role in skin recovery and renewal. Vegan formulations use non-animal sources, such as rice-derived ingredients, although the effects depend on the ingredient and the finished formulation.

How do you use Power X serum?

Power X is intended to be incorporated into a skincare routine alongside moisturiser and daily sun protection. If you use other active products, such as exfoliating serums, consider how best to combine them and introduce new products gradually.

Who is Power X for?

Power X is for people looking to add a targeted serum to a routine focused on hydration, smoother-looking skin and skin resilience. If you have sensitive skin, are using prescription skincare or have recently had a professional treatment, check with your skincare professional before introducing new active products.
