Powering up our DNA
Oh. My. Gosh. I have spent the last few months in such a state of excitement I thought I might pop. I have been awaiting the arrival of a new product to add to my collection of incredible serums: Power DNA.
So, why am I so excited? I’m excited because Power DNA harnesses the power (there’s that exciting word again!) of Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN), which is something quite extraordinary, if I say so myself. Let me explain…
Here’s the science bit, and why I am so excited about Power DNA.
The boffins (love that word) who develop and create my skincare products have been getting very excited about Vitamin B derivatives for their anti-ageing and skin cell longevity properties. We’re already familiar with niacinamide as I have incorporated this lovely ingredient into other SkinGoal products. But now they have devised a way to bring other amazing benefits of various Bs to bear on our skin health too, in a newly developed compound, Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN), which has caused quite a stir among skincare scientists around the world.
What is a serum cocktail?
There has been quite a lot of internet chatter lately about serum cocktails - but what is a serum cocktail and is it a good thing?
In short, a serum cocktail is when you mix two or more of your serums together as a ‘power serum’. Why might we do this? Well, the theory is that with so many of us having multiple serums on our shelves, we can save time by mixing them together before applying. Is this a good thing? I would argue not as, for me, it rather defeats the whole point of choosing, buying and using any serum.
The best ingredients for winter skincare
What are the ingredients we should be looking out for in our skincare products through the winter? In winter, when our skin is subject to greater extremes - from warm and dry inside our homes and workplaces to cold and moist outside, we need to nurture it slightly differently to the summer months, concentrating on feeding it with skin boosting ingredients while protecting the skin barrier with rich moisturising ingredients to reduce the impact of the changes in environment.
How to change up your skincare routine for winter
Our skin takes a bit of a bashing over the colder months, so it’s up to us to feed and care for it so we maintain a healthy looking suppleness and glow all winter long.
Vitamins you need for great skin care
While our skin is of course impacted by the vitamins and minerals we eat and drink, there are certain vitamins that are highly effective when used in skincare, too: Vitamins B3, C and E
When I developed my skincare range, maximising the use of truly efficacious natural ingredients was really important to me, and you can see this in every listing of ingredients on every product, and the inclusion of the right vitamins in the right products was top of my list of must-dos.
